Yuliya Velhan
Biography
Yuliya Velhan has been a part of the Pandemic Center team since 2023 as an Undergraduate and Graduate Research Assistant, working on projects such as the High Level Independent Panel on Pandemic Preparedness and Response. She has also served as a Teaching Assistant for a Pandemic Center course Pandemic Game Changers: Preparing the Next Generation of Decision-Makers for Emerging Bio Threats.
Previously, Yuliya was an intern at CEPI as a part of their Strategy & Biosecurity teams, working on biosecurity innovation recommendations for high-containment laboratories. Yuliya was also an intern at the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy (OPPR), where she worked on tracking the implementation of the National Biodefense Strategy (NBS), coordinated H5N1 updates, and drafted a PPE and Built Environment Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
Yuliya is also currently a Fulbright Fellow in the Netherlands working at National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM). Her project is focused on the impact of In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) on the development and availability of diagnostics in the European Union. Yuliya holds an MPH in Epidemiology on the Causal Inference track and an A.B. in Public Health from Brown University.
