Lisa Di Carlo

Biography
Dr. Di Carlo is a cultural anthropologist and Senior Lecturer in the Sociology Department at Brown University. She leads research design and implementation for the American Democracy and Pandemic Security Initiative. Dr. Di Carlo has designed and conducted multisite qualitative research on a variety of topics, including entrepreneurship, migration, and identity and belonging. She is the author of Migrating to America: Regional Identity among Black Sea Turkish Migrants as well as many articles on migration and identity politics that examine US, European and Turkish contexts. In the Sociology Department, she teaches courses on migration and qualitative research methods.
