Katie Siddle, Ph.D.
Biography
Kate Siddle is an assistant professor in the Molecular Microbiology and Immunology department at the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University. Her research combines experimental and computational approaches to understand how pathogens (in particular viruses) emerge, spread and evolve, and the selective pressures this places on infected hosts. Her recent work has focused on emerging hemorrhagic fever viruses in West Africa, collaborations with local clinical and public health groups to understand superspreading in SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks, and the development of a novel barcoding approach for robust sample tracing. With the Pandemic Center, she will explore how to use genomic sequencing as a tool to learn about pathogens to stop future pandemics.
